Since
1990 the Scottish SPCA have leased one of our
buildings for their sole use as the Dunragit Animal
Welfare Centre, during which time hundreds of
animals have passed through the doors. We manage
the day to day running of this facility which
incorporates kennel space for dogs and cats together
with a small animal room. Animals are admitted
via an SSPCA Inspector and we work closely with
the Inspectors based in Stranraer, Castle Douglas
and Dumfries.
We actively manage a re-homing programme for dogs
and cats and occasionally puppies and kittens.
We would stress that we do not take stray dogs
- that is the responsibility of the local authority
who have provision for this in Stranraer.
A charge is made by the
SSPCA for all animals that pass through the Centre
to new homes and this is inclusive of the
initial vaccination, veterinary insurance cover and identichipping.
We are happy to undertake
educational visits to the centre on behalf of
the SSPCA. Teachers, club leaders and other organisations
are welcome to contact us for further information.
Please telephone us for
details of the animals currently looking for new
homes in this centre or for further information
